Make sure the terminal server is in an OU Called Terminal Servers. Create a new policy linked to this OU called “TS Redirected Folders”:

  • Computer Configuration
    • Enable Loopback Processing - Replace (in Server 2012 this is called “Configure user Group Policy loopback processing mode”)
  • User configuration / Policies / Windows Settings / Folder Redirection
    • AppData(Roaming) - Not Configured (or if it already is, Redirect to local user profile path (trust me, this avoids lots of issues, only set it to a network location if absolutely required))
    • Start Menu - Not Configured (or if it already is, Redirect to local user profile path (trust me, this avoids lots of issues, only set it to a network location if absolutely required))
    • All others:
      • Basic - Redirect everyone's folder to the same location
      • Target folder location: Create a folder for each user under the root path - \\fileserver.domain.local\UserData$\RedirectedFolders
      • Grant the user exclusive rights to AppData(Roaming): False
      • Move the contents of AppData(Roaming) to the new location: True
      • Also apply redirection policy to Windows 2000, Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 operating systems: True
      • Policy removal: Leave the folder in the new location when policy is removed
    • Same settings for all other redirected folders, except:

Pictures/Music/Videos: Follow the Documents folder

To the group policy, also add the settings from Error : Security Warning - we can't verify who created this file
